Why Jeremy Pruitt should start Jarrett Guarantano against Missouri
Jeremy Pruitt has said he’s made his decision on who he’s going to start at quarterback, and in my opinion, it has to be Jarrett Guarantano.
Jarrett Guarantano has had a rocky season, to say the least. I, along with many Tennessee fans, had high expectations for JG coming into the season, and he completely flopped.
That has caused Tennessee’s quarterback carousel we’ve seen throughout this season. We’ve seen the best of Brian Maurer, and a peek at what JT Shrout could do if he were given the job.
After all of that, I think it would be best to at least start Guarantano against Missouri. If it doesn’t work out, then you can always pull him, but he’s found new life recently, so I’d like to see if he can continue it this week.
I would also hesitate to play Maurer because of his recent injuries. I don’t think it’s worth risking his long-term health and playing him.
Shrout will probably be Tennessee’s third option on Saturday. With all of that in mind, Jeremy Pruitt has said he’s decided on who his quarterback is going to be.
"“We have (decided),” Pruitt said Wednesday during the SEC teleconference."
Pruitt said he plans to play two quarterbacks on Saturday to no surprise, but the question is, who should he start and which two quarterbacks will he play?
I feel like JG is the best option for Tennessee, and that’s based on every QB’s recent performance.
Guarantano has led the Vols in passing in the last three games with a total of 491 yards in that three-game span.
JG is hot and has built some momentum for him and his offense. I think Guarantano is the best quarterback for the Vols so far based on recent games.
I’d love to see Maurer or even Shrout light up the Missouri defense, but JG has the most experience and has had the most success recently.
