Calm down, Jauan Jennings didn’t murder anyone
Jauan Jennings is back in the news after Tennessee’s season finale win over Vanderbilt, but everyone needs to calm down and stop overreacting.
If you didn’t watch the Tennessee-Vanderbilt game and read some tweets from the national media and Vanderbilt fans, you would think that Jauan Jennings murdered a man on the field.
Jarrett Guarantano threw an interception, and Jennings made the tackle out of bounds. Jennings and the Vanderbilt player got into a scuffle, and Jauan got up and stepped on his head.
I don’t know if it was on purpose or if it was an accident, but everyone immediately assumed it was on purpose and called for Jennings’ head, and some even went after Jeremy Pruitt.
The two players were on the ground for a few seconds, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a few words were exchanged. You can find that video here:

It looks to me that there was something going on when they were on the ground. When Jennings got up, there were both Tennessee and Vanderbilt players behind Jennings bumping into him. There was probably some pushing and shoving there too.
Jennings turned around after, that and when he got up, he stepped on the Vanderbilt player’s head. Jennings usually plays with a chip on his should so I could see him step over a player or even step on his chest, but saying he purposely stepped on another player’s head is a reach.
For the other people going after Pruitt because of this is also a reach. I don’t remember any player under Pruitt from his time at Florida State or Alabama to intentionally try to hurt someone on the field.
If Jennings stood up, looked down at the player, then stomped on his head, then I would expect Pruitt to suspend him for the bowl game, but that didn’t happen, so for all of you dreamers, you can calm down.
Simply put, unless he comes out and says it was on purpose, there’s nothing Tennessee, the SEC or NCAA should do about this.
He didn’t murder anyone so everyone can quit acting like he did. It looks like it wasn’t intentional based on how he stood up and turned around, but maybe that’s just me.
It’s a rivalry game. It got chippy and Jennings incidentally stepped on a guy’s head. If it were on purpose then you probably would’ve seen the Vandy player get up and go after him, but he didn’t.
The national media needs to stop making storylines out of nothing. For the Tennessee media going after him, you can leave too.
Now I will leave you with one of the greatest videos to ever grace the world wide interweb. Jauan Jennings leading the Pride of the Southland Band.
It was a great game for Jauan and a great game for the Vols. Now we can enjoy Vandy fans crying as we ride down to our bowl game.
