The World Lacked Respect for the Titans. Now It’s Dependent on them.

The Tennessee Titans have been a forgotten team in the NFL for several years. Now, all eyes are on them as they hope to take down a despised dynasty.

The Tennessee Titans have been nothing more than an afterthought since 2009. They have not had more wins in a season than nine since 2008. When anyone mentions the Titans, it is always met with “they are garbage,” or “the Titans suck.”

For years, the media has disrespected the Titans. Fans consistently bark at the media to start respecting their team. Even the players went on rants about respect back in 2018 when they started 4-1, defeating the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, along the way.

But the media still did not budge. Opposing fanbases saw the Titans as an easy win, despite the Titans’ ability to put up winning seasons consistently since 2016. The respect was lacked, and rightfully so, as the Titans are consistently inconsistent.

Part of that inconsistency is because the Titans always lacked true playmakers. They’ve had a few here and there throughout history, but not enough to contend with top dogs consistently. However, this season, the Titans have three: Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and A.J. Brown.

When was the last time we could say we’ve had THREE playmakers on offense? It has been quite some time. The Titans have been the team to beat since week seven, and now, they meet a dynasty who has held that same spot since 2002.

Unlike the Titans, the Patriots have been the NFL’s most consistent team since the early 2000s. Under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, they’ve been to nine Super Bowls and have won six of them. SIX!

The Patriots have loads and loads of playoff experience, while our Titans have only clinched a playoff berth twice since 2017. Their playoff berth in 2017 was the first time they’ve seen playoff football since 2008. Two completely different franchises are meeting in Foxborough.

Yet, the Titans find themselves with a big responsibility. The respect they have been asking for? Well, here is their chance to earn it. They’ve been riding high on offense since Week 7, and they meet one of the NFL’s most sound defenses in postseason football.

Mike Vrabel, your chance to gain respect does not get any better than this. The same people who have doubted your Titans in the past, said they are garbage, and barely gave them the time of day, are now asking, no begging, your Titans to end the Patriots dynasty once and for all.

If the Titans can pull out the victory in New England, it could go a long way to propelling the Titans into the elite conversation. It could give the entire franchise a huge boost, and could lift them into a consistently winning football team.

Tennessee Sports fans, think of what happened when their neighbors, the Nashville Predators, swept the dynasty of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017. Beating a dynasty when the stakes are high can lift up a small market team out of mediocrity and give them the boost they’ve been looking for. The time is now, Tennessee Titans. It is time to Titan Up…and do your job.
