With free agency rumors firing up, the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots could simply swap quarterbacks to solve their QB issues.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Before you get triggered, here me out. Tom Brady to the Tennessee Titans is very likely at this point, and that leaves Ryan Tannehill’s future unknown.
But Tannehill won’t be the one going to the Titans, Marcus Mariota is. Mariota’s future is up in the air more than anyone’s, so a change of scenery and being the Patriots’ next quarterback could be exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.
This could be one of the biggest free agency non-trade trades for quarterbacks in NFL history. I think we all know what Mariota is capable of if he’s in the right system, and if there’s a team that knows how to get the best out of a quarterback, it’s the Patriots.
Monday Morning Quarterback’s Albert Breer joined the Midday 180 show on Wednesday and discussed the potential move for Mariota.
Breer said that the Patriots “actually like” Mariota, and he thinks that Mariota could be the Patriots’ next “reclamation project.”
Of course, this is all depending on what Brady does in free agency, and if Mariota wants to join the Pats, then Brady will have to make the decision to leave New England first.
I’m not a huge fan of Brady to the Titans, but with head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson’s ties to Brady, I have to think it’s possible they move to Brady over Tannehill.
For Mariota, he has a few different reasonable options, but he could be tied to this mess with Brady along with Tannehill.
As of right now, I think the leader in the clubhouse for the Titans is still Tannehill, but it seems like Brady is determined to be in Nashville this year. So, is Mariota to the Pats a real possibility? I think so depending on what Brady does.
