Rumors have been swirling that Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Jack Conklin could be going to the Jets, but now that might not happen.

Pro Football Talk took to the free agency message boards to report that Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Jack Conklin could be heading to the New York Jets, but now ESPN’s Adam Schefter is refuting that report.

Free agency opens on March 18th and in the PFT report, they said that the Jets could very well be the number one choice for Conklin.

Adam Schefter then reported on Twitter that the Jets could not be the landing spot for Conklin. He said that many teams would be interested in Conklin, and it’s unlikely the Jets will be able to lock him down.

I couldn’t imagine the Titans not do what they can to keep him in Nashville, but it looks like they are going to have to pay a high price to keep him.

In a year where they want to keep Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, who will have a big price tag themselves, it’s unlikely the Titans will be able to spend the money necessary to keep Tannehill, Henry, and Conklin.

Every team in the NFL wants a solid, reliable offensive lineman they can depend on for 16 games every year. So much, some NFL teams might be more willing to spend possibly a record-breaking amount of money on Conklin.

ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe said once he hits the open market, the bids for Conklin will top Lane Johnson’s salary as the highest-paid offensive lineman at $18 million per year.

Conklin was the eighth overall pick in the 2016 Draft, and he’s one of few players to live up to the hype. Unfortunately for the Titans, he lived up too much and now could be unaffordable for Tennessee.

So, could the Titans keep Conklin in Nashville? Unless they can successfully throw the franchise tag on him, or let Henry or Tannehill walk, then it’s unlikely Conklin will be in two-tone blue at the start of the 2020 season.
