The Tennessee Titans have an important decision to make at the quarterback position, and with the QB debate heating up, Derrick Henry is being overlooked.

Ryan Tannehill and Tom Brady are at the forefront of the Tennessee Titans quarterback debate. For some reason, everyone has forgotten about the player that carried the Titans offense through the playoffs and through a lot of the regular season, Derrick Henry.

Without Henry, I don’t think Tannehill and the Titans would have been as successful throughout the second half of the regular season and in the playoffs. He was a leader in the Titans’ offensive huddle and on the field, and it showed in his performance.

After being the NFL rushing leader, he should be the first Titans player to receive a contract extension, but Brady and Tannehill are getting in the way of that.

The quarterback debate has effectively forgotten about Henry, as many fans have put his future to the side.

Henry deserves the respect of receiving a contract before Brady or even Tannehill after his performance even though his future as a successful NFL running back is unknown as he continues to age.

Titans fan and IndyCar Champion Josef Newgarden agrees and thinks that Henry shouldn’t be thrown to the side after a successful season like he had in 2019.

"“I think you can’t let Derrick go,” Newgarden said. “I think he’s your main guy, your rallier. I think all the team kind of thrives around him, right? But you have to have that integral piece like a Tannehill. If they’re losing Tannehill, they’ve got to get someone close to him, but I think Henry’s your priority.”"

The last thing the Titans need to do is allow either quarterback to get in the way of the franchise’s future and letting Henry walk.

Tannehill had one great season, but with his history, who knows what’s next. Brady is not getting any younger, and his age could put the Titans’ future at risk if he’s a flop. Henry, on the other hand, is running like he’s in his prime and should be the first player to get a new contract.
