Tannethrill will be returning to Nashville in 2020, and the future after the Tennessee Titans and Ryan Tannehill agree to a new contract.

The biggest debate of 2020 surrounding the Tennessee Titans’ free agency was surrounded around the quarterback position. More specifically, between Ryan Tannehill and Tom Brady. Both offer their positives, but the Titans will likely only be able to afford one, so they have to choose.

One day after the new Collective Bargaining Agreement was finalized, the Titans quickly inked a deal with Tannehill and left no doubt in Titans fans’ nor NFL fans’ minds about who they are wanting for the long-term future.

I am even a bit surprised the contract came so quickly. I was expecting the Titans to drag their feet a little bit regarding the decision with Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson’s ties to Tom Brady and the Patriots

Thankfully, both Robinson and Vrabel made the best decision for the franchise, even if that means they don’t get to have their friend and future Hall of Famer play for the Titans in 2020.

It’s clear that the Titans are also not afraid to spend some money to keep the players that they want after seeing Tannehill’s new deal, which could mean a big contract could very well be coming Derrick Henry‘s way very soon as well.

Tannehill’s new contract is a four-year deal worth $118 million, $62 million fully guaranteed, and $91 million total guaranteed. After his performance in the last ten weeks of the season, the return on the investment with this contract could be higher than many expect, even with such a high price tag.

You could say maybe Tannehill isn’t worth this kind of money after only ten games with a new franchise, but after the eye test and reading through the stats and the categories that he led the league in, it’s hard to say after 2019 that his performance isn’t worth a nine-figure contract.

This is a big deal for both the Titans and Tannehill, and this is hopefully the first step in a very big, very successful offseason for the Titans ahead of the 2020 season.
