As expected, the Tennessee Titans lost star tackle Jack Conklin in free agency, but the Titans didn’t wait in finding his replacement.

The Tennessee Titans were limited in what they could do with tackle Jack Conklin after signing Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry, who are the top two priorities this free agency.

After the Titans locked down Tannehill and got a step closer to locking down Henry, they were unable to keep Conklin in Nashville.

Conklin agreed to a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. Conklin signed the three-year deal worth $42 million and $30 million guaranteed. Conklin will receive his biggest paychecks this fall, as he is set to make $20 million in just the 2020 season.

The Browns were busy yesterday after another disappointing season with Baker Mayfield leading the charge, but they are loading up once again this offseason as they look to have a much better 2020 season.

The Titans were also pretty busy yesterday. Tennessee did re-sign Conklin’s backup, Dennis Kelly, after losing Conklin to the Browns.

Kelly offered a much cheaper option for the Titans, and he’s still reliable, although he’s not near as good as Conklin, he performed well when Conklin was out.

The Titans new right tackle signed a three-year $21 million deal, which is a near-perfect deal from the Titans’ perspective.

This new deal with Kelly replaces Conklin, and I think that many Titans fans are completely fine with this signing. This also allows the Titans to re-sign Henry along with signing another big free agent.

Rumors are saying that the Titans are going to try to get a big name pass rusher. That makes perfect sense as the Titans could use another really good pass rusher upfront.

Kelly is worth the $21 million he’s going to make over the next three years. He’s also giving the Titans a chance to keep Henry and sign another big name. As much as I’d love to keep Conklin, it seemed unlikely unless he was franchise tagged, so there’s not much the Titans could do.

dark. Next. Tennessee Titans: Derrick Henry’s future in Nashville is still up in the air

This might be the best deal the Titans make this offseason, and it will likely be clouded by deals with Henry and another potential free agent. Oh, and Kelly can catch touchdowns, so who’s complaining about another pass catcher.
