The Tennessee Titans could use a good backup running back to help Derrick Henry in 2020, and James White would be perfect.
One big reason that some Tennessee Titans fans don’t want to re-sign Derrick Henry to a long-term deal is because of his age, and his production will likely start to decline over the next few years.

Well, one way the Titans can stunt that fall is to bring a high-quality backup running back to Nashville to help Henry with the workload. That backup running back should be Patriots’, James White.

The Titans decided to move on from backup running back Dion Lewis, leaving a hole in the Titans’ running game. Obviously, Henry can’t carry all of the workload on the ground, so the Titans will need to find a new backup running back.

With Tom Brady leaving the Patriots, we could see the franchise that has dominated the past 15 years go through a rebuild. With that being said, the Patriots will need draft picks to begin the rebuild, and the Titans have those draft picks.

White has spent six seasons in the NFL, and all of them have been with the New England Patriots. White’s contract is set to expire after the 2020 season, so we could see him move on from the Patriots this time next year unless the Titans want to bring him to Nashville a bit earlier.

White is an amazing receiving back, so even if the Titans don’t get a top tight end, then White might be able to help the passing game out of the backfield.

Last season, White had 72 receptions for 645 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He also had 263 rushing yards and one touchdown. Not the best in the rushing category for a running back, but he is one of four running backs that the Patriots used last season.

With the running back room getting a bit cramped with four guys in there, one might need to be moved, and White could be that guy if the Titans can craft the right offer.

A third or fourth-round pick could very easily send White to Nashville or two sixth-round picks or something like that.

The Titans are going to need to upgrade a few more positions before they get ready for the 2020 season. If they don’t sign another edge rusher, tight end, or a running back, then these are three players that I’d love to see in a Titans uniform this fall.
