Tennessee football could be in the running for a five-star quarterback transfer to add to a packed quarterback room for the 2020 season.

The Tennessee football quarterback room is already going to be packed with talented quarterbacks competing for the starting job for the 2020 season. That doesn’t mean that the door is closed for five-star quarterback, J.T. Daniels, to make his way to Rocky Top.

I don’t think anyone would be opposed to the addition of Daniels, either. The more talented quarterbacks Tennessee has, the better. That means the competition will be better, and whoever comes out of that QB battle as the starter will be a lot better for it.

Daniels announced on Thursday that he would be transferring from USC, where he spent the last two seasons, and the Vols have been listed as a team to watch.

He suffered a knee injury in Week 1 of last season, and the backup freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis took over and performed well above expectations and earned the PAC-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year.

That was enough for Daniels to decide to move on from USC and look for a new home. As a freshman in 2018, Daniels played in 11 games and completed 59.5% of his passes for 2,672 yards, 14 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.

247Sports’ analyst Charles Power has named some teams to watch, and Tennessee was on the list to watch for potential destinations for the five-star quarterback.

The Tee Martin connection could be what gets Daniels to Knoxville. Both were at USC for Daniels’ freshman season, and if Daniels wants to reunite with Martin, then Knoxville could very well be where Daniels is heading to.

Greg Biggin, who is also from 247Sports, listed seven teams that he thinks are in the running for Daniels in an article. Tennessee is on that list along with LSU, Michigan, Florida State, Ole Miss, Washington, and USC. Yes, there is a possibility that he doesn’t leave USC after all.

Tennessee Titans continue to beef up the offensive line. dark. Next

I think Tennessee has a pretty good chance to get Daniels and Jeremy Pruitt has been hot on the recruiting trail recently, so if he wants to bring Daniels to Knoxville then he will likely put Tee Martin on the job, and that makes me think that the Vols have a very good chance at bringing Daniels to Knoxville.
