Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee football locked in yet another verbal commitment on Sunday from a defensive back from Florida.

Tennessee football has been on fire for the past seven days as they just picked up their sixth verbal commitment in eight days and fifth commitment in the calendar week.

This past week was finished off with assistant coaches Brian Niedermeyer and Tee Martin teaming up to propose the idea of bringing black jerseys back into the uniform rotation. The last time we saw Tennessee in black jerseys was back in 2009 on Halloween against South Carolina. This fall was the 10 year anniversary of that night.

Nevertheless, that conversation didn’t stop the talks of Tennessee’s great week and what could be coming in the future. I don’t expect for Tennessee to get a few four or five-star recruits each week, but after doing it last week, the Vols are off to another good start this week.

Three-star defensive back De’Shawn Rucker announced on Instagram Live that he will be leaving his hometown of Tallahassee for Knoxville, and he is verbally committing to Tennessee. If you’re not impressed, then just wait because he will be a four star by the end of his senior season.

He’s currently rated as the No. 22 safety in Florida and the No. 45 prospect in the state, according to 247Sports.

Tennessee beat out Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, and many others.

Rucker finished his junior season with 62 tackles, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a blocked punt. He’s clearly a player that can play multiple positions on the field, and he has elite speed that helps him with that.

Along with being an athlete on the football field, he is also a track star. He ran 100 meters in 10.76 seconds, and his team earn the second-best time in the state of Florida in the 4×100 relay with a 41.7-second run.

Rucker is a speed demon that could play a vital role in helping Jeremy Pruitt keep the secondary produce at a high level since the secondary is Pruitt’s specialty I’m sure there won’t be too much trouble doing that.

Next. Tennessee Basketball could have some first-round draft picks on its roster. dark

The addition of Rucker wasn’t enough for Tennessee to leap over North Carolina to take over the No. 2 spot in the 2021 recruiting rankings, but the Vols are inching closer as they hold down the No. 3 spot in the country and the No. 1 spot in the SEC.
