Tennessee football hit fire on the recruiting trail this past week and now are tied for having the most commitments in college football for the 2021 class.
This past week was a strong one for Tennessee football as it locked down seven verbal commitments in eight days. Not too shabby of a week if you ask me.
The seven commits came from three-star JUCO RB Tiyon Evans, three-star DB De’Shawn Rucker, four-star WR Julian Nixon, four-star DB Kamar Wilcoxson, four-star RB Cody Brown, five-star WDE Dylan Brooks, five-star OLB Terrence Lewis.
Brown and Rucker both announced they are committing to Tennessee on Sunday, which pushed the Vols to the top of the college football leaderboard when it comes to total commits.
The Vols currently have 17 commits, which ties them with Ohio State and Miami (OH) for the most in the nation.
Tennessee is running away with the number of commits among the SEC. The only other team with double-digit commits right now is Florida with 12. Every other SEC team currently has less than ten.
With the most recruits in the nation, Tennessee is ranked No. 3 nationally among other 2021 classes with Ohio State at No. 1, according to 247Sports.
This is huge for Tennessee because, after last week, Jeremy Pruitt and company have a lot to work with when it comes to recruiting. Rival coaches are currently freaking out and begging recruits to not believe the hype, Pruitt can simply say that the hype is real and look at these great players who are ready to give their All for Tennessee.
Tennessee is creeping up on North Carolina who currently sits at No. 2 in the nation. Tennessee currently has 228.54 points for the 2021 class, and the Tar Heels have 229.38 points.
There are a couple of recruits looking at dates in the near future as commitment dates, and one of those can put Tennessee in the No. 2 spot in the nation.
The Vols came into 2020 as one of the hottest teams in college football, and that hot streak continues into May as the Vols are inching closer to having the best recruiting class in the country.
