Tennessee Titans’ safety Kevin Byard has had quite the come up over the past two seasons, and now we have an insight on one of his pre-game rituals.

If you’ve seen the movie Major League, then you know that Pedro Cerrano and Jobu have an interesting pre-game ritual that they go through before every game. Tennessee Titans’ safety Kevin Byard has something similar.

In the movie, Jobu is a voodoo doll. Byard doesn’t talk to a voodoo doll before every game, but he does talk to a football pre-game to help get his mind focused.

I don’t think that there’s any need to criticize what Byard does pre-game because it must be working. Byard has had quite the come up over the past few seasons to become one of the top safeties in the league.

Byard gave us an inside look as to what his pre-game is like on Instagram Live, where he was interviewed by NFL Network’s Kay Adams. Byard said the pre-game ritual is inspired by NFL Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins.

He’s been in the league for four years, and in his second year, he led the league in interceptions with eight and earned his first Pro Bowl appearance and he was a First-Team All-Pro.

He’s consistently been one of the Titans’ best players on defense and one of the best safeties in the league, or are we still referring to him as a fan?

He has 17 career interceptions since 2017, which is the most for any defensive back in the league in that period, so whatever Byard is doing pre-game, it’s working.

The Titans defense is built with players like Byard so whatever they’re doing collectively then they’re doing something right.

There’s no doubt that he’s one of the best safeties in the league, and every week, he’s going to put himself and his teammates in the right spot to give the Titans a fighting chance to win every game.
