Tennessee Football is gaining some hype around the SEC, and now former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik thinks that Tennessee is going to impress in 2020.

It seems like every offseason, Tennessee football fans hype up the upcoming football season throughout the summer. This summer is no different except we have some people who aren’t apart of VolTwitter also hyping up Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols.

SEC Network analyst Gene Chizik is now hopping on the hype train for the 2020 Vols after he gave Pruitt another high praise.

Going back to early in the 2019 season, Chizik was one of a handful of people who stood behind Pruitt and the Vols as they lost games that they shouldn’t have. It turns out, he may have been right about Pruitt and not leaving his side, even when it looked like he was dead wrong.

"“I was probably one of the few guys that, at the beginning of the season after the BYU game and the Georgia State game,” Chizik said. “I watched the film and I felt like, I even said it on the air, I felt like everything was correctable, I really did.”"

Chizik isn’t stopping now when things are looking up for the Vols. He’s putting on more steam and putting everything he has behind Pruitt.

"“I think Jeremy Pruitt is a heck of a football coach,” Chizik said. “I think he understands not just the game, he understands players, putting them in a position to succeed and win. They were one of the hottest teams in the league, if not the hottest team, at the end of the year.”"

Another thing that Chizik complimented of Pruitt is his recruiting. If there’s one thing that we’ve seen Pruitt dominate in, it’s recruiting, and Chizik knows how good of a recruiter Pruitt is.

"“Recruiting is definitely on the upswing, and if there’s one thing Jeremy can do, he can recruit,” Chizik said. “He has great rapport with high school coaches in a lot of states, starting in Alabama where he was one. Obviously, being under Nick (Saban) for so many years and understanding the importance what it takes to recruit, I think Tennessee is on the up-swing.”“I think good things are going to happen. Obviously, recruiting is the name of the game. It’s the lifeblood of every team in this league,” he continued. “You can be the greatest X and O guy, you can have all the bells and whistles that you need to run blitzes and have fancy offenses and all those things. You better have dudes that can execute it. And I think they’re headed in that direction.”"

I think a lot of fans liked what they saw at the end of the 2019 season and would backup what Chizik is saying. There’s something special happening in Knoxville, and Pruitt could be building something we haven’t seen in a couple of decades.

"“I like the mentality of the team, I like the physicality that I saw,” he said. “This is still a culture shift. In Year 3, you’re still in a culture shift. By the end of Year 3, you’re going to really see things start to swing, and they’re really going to grab some people’s attention by the end of Year 3 for Jeremy Pruitt.”"

I’m ready for football season to return, and sports overall as we await for the NBA, NHL, and MLB to return. Only if football season was a bit closer.
