Tennessee Titans-Jadeveon Clowney hype continues to build
Jadeveon Clowney has been a player that Tennessee Titans fans and players alike have been wanting to bring to Nashville, and the hype continues to build.
If there was one player that Tennessee Titans fans could sign this offseason, it would probably be Jadeveon Clowney. It’s been a chase to get Clowney to say anything publicly about free agency, which is only building more hype about what he could possibly be doing.
Recently, we saw Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan give his pitch to Clowney on Twitter. Since then, the Clowney to Titans conversation has heated up once again, and I don’t think it’s going to slow down.
NFL Network analyst Nate Burleson is adding some fuel to the fire now after his recent comments about Clowney possibly joining the Titans in a response to Lewan’s social media post.
"“If the Titans had Jadeveon Clowney last year, they might make it to the Super Bowl,” Burleson said. “I know you’re saying ‘Nate, that’s quite dramatic.’ I was there. I was there at the AFC Championship game, that cold, brisk night where KC is fighting with the Titans. It was back and forth. And right before halftime, Mahomes went crazy.”“Now imagine if you have a guy like Jadeveon Clowney that is big, fast, strong that you can drop into coverage or you can send him on the attack,” he said. “I feel like a guy like Jadeveon Clowney in a Titans uniform would work perfectly. It might be what they need to get over that hump. I say, yes. I believe it.”"
The Titans have made some changes to their defense this offseason, so it won’t be the same as it was last season, but it could be better. With the addition of Clowney, the defense could be lethal.
It will be up to Clowney to maintain his health, and if the Titans can get a full season out of Clowney, then the Titans will be back in the playoffs this year and could play for another opportunity to get to the Super Bowl.
Who knows where Clowney will end up. He’s in no hurry to sign a contract, and that might be because he’s waiting on the perfect contract for a team that will be competitive in 2020. If he believes that the TItans could be that team, maybe he’s just waiting to get to Nashville to meet the coaches and players in person.
