TITANS BOAST TOP 5 RUSH DEFENSE AND TOP 10 IN SACKS

Ok, maybe I should have titled this “bold predictions,” because this one is also pretty bold. The Titans have been mediocre in the rush defense and pass rush department for the last several seasons.

The pass rush has been the area of concern all offseason so far, and it has had the Titans waiting on top free-agent Jadeveon Clowney for months now. But, this prediction is regardless of the Titans landing Clowney or not.

Now, this prediction is kind of outlandish, I suppose, given the fact that the Titans traded away Pro-Bowler Jurrell Casey for basically nothing. Also, I have nothing to back up this prediction. This is simply just that, a prediction.

However, the Titans do have young guns in Harold Landry, Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown, Jeffery Simmons, and added veteran Vic Beasley to that mix. If you aren’t a Titans fan, probably none of those names are familiar to you besides Beasley, but those guys are developing well and have grown together in Mike Vrabel‘s defense.

This season, Simmons will step up to the plate, now that Casey is gone, and help the Titans defensive line stuff runs up the middle, while guys like Landry and Evans, who both have proven they can make plays, keep the edge contained, helping the Titans to a top-5 rushing defense.

This uptick in performance by those guys will also lead to more confidence in the passing game, thus more sacks. If the Titans land Clowney, then this prediction is less bold and more realistic. But, I believe it’s pretty realistic regardless because these young players have shown a tremendous amount of potential.
