Tennessee Football: What is going on with Kamar Wilcoxson?
An interesting situation has developed in the past 24 hours with former Tennessee Football commit Kamar Wilcoxson, and it’s kind of confusing.
Tennessee football went on quite the recruiting run earlier this spring and gained the attention of the nation. Kamar Wilcoxson was apart of that commitment spree, but now he is no longer apart of Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class.
Earlier this week, Wilcoxson took to Twitter to give Tennessee fans of what could come in the next few weeks, saying, “I got something cooking Tennessee, just wait until the 4th of July.” That tweet has since been deleted.
Based on that tweet being deleted, and his recent decommitment, I would have to guess that he’s no longer going to be attending the cookout on July Fourth.
Wilcoxson took to Twitter yesterday to announce that he’s no longer a member of the Vols’ 2021 recruiting class, and he will be joining Tennessee rival, Florida. This will mark the third time that he’s committed to Florida in his quest to find his new home.
The indecisiveness usually isn’t a good sign, but it’s still early, and he could just be making his quick decisions more public where others don’t. I’m not going to hold it against him because I’m sure a lot of pressure comes with making a decision on where you’re going to commit, especially with social media on your back.
The story doesn’t stop there, though. Wilcoxson’s Florida commitment tweet has also been deleted along with his header and bio updated to virtually all non-Florida stuff. His header is a Star Wars picture, and his bio reads “@imgacademy” with a gator emoji.
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems weird that a commit would delete his commitment tweet if he is going to remain committed. He still has some tweets that he re-tweeted on his timeline, which makes me think that after everything, he is still committed to Florida.
Even if that is the case, I wouldn’t stress too much over it because it seems like the recruitment battle with Florida for Wilcoxson isn’t over and might not be over until National Signing Day. Heck, maybe that Fourth of July announcement is him returning to Tennessee. 😉
