Could the Tennessee Titans be the team of this decade?
One question that probably no one has asked is could the Tennessee Titans be the team of this decade, but it might be a realistic question.
The thought of the Tennessee Titans being the team of the decade for this decade seems crazy and out of left field, but after an AFC Championship run, it’s not that far out of reach.
Of course, they’ll have to compete with the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, San Fransisco 49ers, and probably another team or two will jump into the conversation, but if the ball rolls the Titans’ way a few years and the Titans are in the middle conversation.
If Jon Robinson remains the Titans general manager for the foreseeable future, then successful draft classes will likely continue for the Titans, which means the Titans will continuously continue to build on its success with more young, cheaper talent.
It’s something to think about. I’m not coming out of nowhere with this idea, either. New Titans CEO Burke Nihill has the same feeling about the Titans’ success this decade.
"“I would say buckle up,” Nihill said. “I think the 2020s are setting up to be a really special decade to be a Titans fan.”"
Nihill mentioned that the 2019 season is just a sneak peek for what the Titans will be doing in 2020 and the success that Titans fans will see on the field.
"“I think that was just a preview of what’s to come,” Nihill said. Amy Adams Strunk has a really big vision for this organization. She has really high expectations for this organization.“The last four or five years, you’ve seen this momentum growing. It’s produced great football teams and great moments for Titans fans. The next several years, it’s going to continue to grow. It’s going to be a great time to be a Titans fan.”"
We’ve seen the Titans work hard to build a solid team on all three phases of the football and also work towards building one of the best front offices in the NFL. We won’t know how well either of those will turn out for a few years, but with recent front office additions, I have a pretty good feeling about it.
No one has higher expectations for the Titans this decade than the Tennessee Titans, and that shows with Nihill’s recent comments. I have a feeling the Titans will stop at nothing to bring the Lombardi Trophy to Nashville for the first time in franchise history.
