Tennessee Football: Yes, Jeremy Pruitt gets five-star kickers, too
Five-star in-state kicker JT Carver commits to Tennessee Football. Jeremy Pruitt proves he can recruit at a high level at any position.
Tennessee football receives another verbal commit, and the Vols’ newest commit is a head-turner. Five-star in-state kicker JT Carver announced that he’s committing to the Vols.
Less than a week after receiving a preferred walk-on offer, Carver committed to the Vols. Jeremy Pruitt and company beat out Arizona, Memphis, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ole Miss.
"“It feels really good,” Carver told Rocky Top Insider. “It was right and I didn’t have any reason to wait any longer. Definitely a dream come true.“I called Coach Pruitt and we started talking about how practice went that day, and what’s for dinner. Then, I just let him know I was 100 percent in and I was ready to be a Vol. He was really excited and said he couldn’t wait for me to be there, that he sees something special in me and knows I’m going to be part of a special class and a big part of the team.”"
If you haven’t noticed by now, Pruitt is an elite recruiter. He can recruit any position and get some of the best talent in the country. That includes finding one of the best kickers in the 2021 class.
Carver has been working with some former Tennessee kickers throughout middle and high school, so that might have helped sway his decision, too. He currently works with former UT kicker James Wilhoit. He also worked with Alex Walls in middle school and Aaron Medley some as well.
Pruitt is building something from the ground up at Tennessee, and it’s starting with his guys throughout the recruiting process. The 2021 class seems to be the most talented class so far, and if I had to guess, Pruitt isn’t going to stop there.
