We’re getting closer to early signing day for college football, and Tennessee football is now working on the 2021 and 2022 recruiting class.

You might have seen Tennessee Football get a commitment over the weekend, but the recruit isn’t committing to the 2021 class.

Jimmy Scott is a defensive end out of New York that is a member of the 2022 recruiting class, and he’s the first player in the country to commit to the Vols as a part of the 2022 class.

Scott announced on Sunday that he is committing to the Vols via Twitter. It looks like Jeremy Pruitt is now working on finishing out the 2021 class while getting the 2022 class off to a good start.

The 6’3″, 250 lb three-star strong side defensive end hails all the way from upstate New York in Joe Osovet country.

Scott said a big reason that he decided to commit to Tennessee was because of his relationship with Coach Osovet in an interview with Rivals.

Pruitt has made it a priority to find players that can rush the quarterback, and it looks like that will continue to be a priority in 2022.

The Vols have had some great defensive ends over the years. Most recently, Derek Barnett who broke Reggie White’s sack record at Tennessee.

This is another good note on the recruiting trail for Tennessee. With a lot of doubt surrounding the football season on all levels, from the NFL to high school, there should be plenty of time for Scott to prove that he’s worth Tennessee’s time over the next year or so.

It is always weird, though, seeing a guy as young as Scott commit so early. There are still a lot of questions surrounding his build, his performance, and his character on and off the field even though all of those things should be answered this fall.

Next. Titans secondary missed a lot of opportunities last season. dark

Scott is Tennessee’s first commitment of the 2022 class as the 2021 class continues to fill up. The Vols 2021 class currently has 24 commits, leaving one spot left in the class.
