Tennessee Football has already had a busy week as Cade Mays’ waiver has been denied by the NCAA, and Jeremy Banks is reinstated.

It’s only Tuesday, yet Tennessee football has already had a week worth of news since Sunday. The Vols had its first 2022 commitment on Sunday, and on Monday, Jeremy Banks was reinstated, and Cade Mays‘ immediate eligibility waiver was denied. On top of all that, the SEC released the full 2020 ten-game all-SEC schedule, and the Vols surprisingly didn’t get shanghaied.

For Jeremy Banks, after some issues over the past year, he is back with the football team after being away for almost a year. Pruitt confirmed that Banks is back on Monday.

"“We’ve put a plan in place for Jeremy Banks, and he’s done everything we’ve asked him to do,” Pruitt said. “We’re excited to have him back and looking forward to giving him a second chance.”"

Banks is expected to return as a linebacker. Hopefully, for the sake of Banks and the team, 2020 can be a bit smoother than the 2019 season.

With Banks returning, there are now questions surrounding Cade Mays’ Tennessee debut. He was expected to get an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA, but we learned on Monday that the NCAA denied his waiver, which means he will have to sit out the 2020 season.

Tennessee has appealed the NCAA’s decision, and with the official ruling now known by players, coaches, and fans, the NCAA has been attacked all over social media for its decision.

Tennessee offensive lineman, Trey Smith, led the charge to #FreeCadeMays on Twitter, and Jay Bilas brought it to the national spotlight.

I don’t expect Tennessee to back away from this fight with the NCAA, nor do I expect VolTwitter to back down either. It’s been repeated by many, but I do find it interesting how quarterbacks can gain immediate eligibility regardless of where they transfer to. Yet, Mays can’t get immediate eligibility for whatever excuse the NCAA wants to use.

Next. Titans secondary missed a lot of opportunities last season. dark

It’s only Tuesday, and we’re already full of action-packed drama throughout the state, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens from Tuesday through Saturday.
