Earl Thomas has been released by the Baltimore Ravens, so could the Tennessee Titans sign Thomas instead of Jadeveon Clowney?

The Tennessee Titans didn’t get that splash free agency signing like they wanted to due to Jadeveon Clowney not willing to take a pay cut. With Earl Thomas being released, the Titans will have an opportunity to make a splash and sign a Thomas, but they will likely have more competition than they did with Clowney.

If the Titans were to sign Clowney, then they still wouldn’t have filled the hole in the front seven that Clowney would’ve filled, but it would add another great defender in the secondary. Possibly to replace Logan Ryan’s production?

I know the Titans already have a really solid secondary, but if Thomas comes at the right price, why not? I know he comes with some baggage, which is why he’s now a free agent, but taking a risk on a talented player like him might be worth it in the end.

Thomas has played at the highest level, and he knows what it takes to have a championship season. He won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks as a part of the Legion of Boom.

He’s not quite the defender he once was when he was in Seattle with the Legion of Boom, but he can still be a producer on any defense.

Last season, Thomas had 49 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. If I had to guess, the favorite to sign Thomas will be the Cowboys because he’s previously shown a lot of interest in Dallas, but that doesn’t mean it’s a lock.

I don’t know if the Titans should sign Thomas or not, I’m not saying that they should go all-in on him, but it can’t hurt to inquire and maybe have an interview with him.
