Before playing a game, Tennessee Football has risen to No. 15 in the AP’s Top 25 rankings thanks to the PAC-12 and BIG 10.

Tennessee Football is quickly rising as one of the nation’s best football teams without even playing a game. The Vols came in at No. 25 in the AP’s preseason poll and have quickly shot up into the top-15.

The Vols landed at No. 17 in the coaches poll and No. 15 in the AP poll. We’re a little less than two weeks away before the Vols take the field for the first time this season, and the Vols are already considered a top-15 team.

That might not be the case for long if the Big Ten decides to change its mind on the 2020 season and play football this fall. If the Big Ten does decide to play this fall, they will begin their season in October.

Along with Tennessee moving to No. 15, the SEC holds six of the ten top-ten spots in the AP poll as they dominate the rankings before playing a game. Clemson, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Texas are the four non-SEC teams that made the top-ten.

Tennessee’s first opponent of the season, South Carolina, did not make the AP poll, so the Vols will already be forced to defend their ranking against a worthy unranked opponent in the first game of the season.

Vols fans know a lot about preseason hype with Tennessee being unable to back it up on the field, and I’ve been one to not buy into the hype this season, but this hype is coming from outside of Tennessee. I have predicted that Tennessee likely wins six games, but seven wins would make for a really good season.

Next. Tennessee Titans: It’s finally game day!. dark

Will the Vols move up any more in the rankings before they take the field in a couple of weeks? What will the Vols have to do to get in the top-ten of the rankings? Can they even get into the top-ten?
