Tennessee Titans: I was initially wrong about Jadeveon Clowney
The Tennessee Titans signed defensive end Jadeveon Clowney about a week before their Monday night game, and Clowney showed out.
I wrote an article before the Tennessee Titans’ season opener against the Denver Broncos, where I asked if Jadeveon Clowney had enough time to prepare with about a week with the organization before Monday night.
If you tuned in to the Titans’ game, then you found out pretty early that I underestimated Clowney’s ability to adjust to a new team and prepare for a game. His raw talent took over as we saw him record two tackles on the Broncos’ five-play opening drive.
Clowney was flying around the field and made his presence known early. He showed why Kevin Byard and the Titans labeled him a “game wrecker” when the Titans would play the Texans.
He finished the night with three tackles but continued to run around the field and be the athlete that Titans fans were hoping that they’d get when they signed him.
Clowney did seem to slow down a bit in the second half, which just shows how tough it is to play a full professional football game without working out with the team for more than a week before the first game.
He should adjust as we progress through the season, and we should even see him much improved on Sunday with another week on the practice field with the Titans.
The Titans will face the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday at noon. This game was seen as an easy win before Week 1, but the Jags upset the Colts, so the Titans might have to fight a little harder than fans initially expected to have the 2-0 start to the regular season.
