Corey Davis needed a great start to the season as he looks to earn a second contract, and that’s exactly what the Tennessee Titans receiver did.

If I had to guess, A.J. Brown will still be the Tennessee Titans’ premiere receiver throughout the 2020 season and the future, but right now, Corey Davis is the receiver that has shown out to start the season.

Davis finished his 2020 debut with seven catches for 101 receiving yards in the Titans’ Week 1 win over the Broncos.

It looks like Davis could have the opportunity to repeat his Week 1 performance against the Jaguars in Week 2.

Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that we could see the Titans take the field without their No. 1 receiver, A.J. Brown, as he could be out with a bruise in his knee.

Losing Brown would be a big hit to the Titans offense, but if Davis is able to come out and repeat his Week 1 performance, then the Titans should be able to get by without Brown. This would be the first game in Brown’s career that he hasn’t played in to this date. So far, he’s played in all 19 games the Titans have been in going back to the start of the 2019 season.

The Titans’ Week 2 opponent, the Jaguars, was expected to be the worst team in the NFL and they still have plenty of time to be that team, but they upset the Colts in Week 1, so they might not be as bad as people were expecting.

As well as I’d like to see Davis perform, I don’t think I’m willing to go into Sunday without Brown and guarantee a win for the Titans.

The Titans opened as big favorites at (-8), and the Titans still hang around that number at about a touchdown favorite over the Jaguars. I’m sure as we get closer to the noon kickoff on Sunday, that number will be bet down to around having the Titans to a six-point favorite.
