The Tennessee Titans’ defense finally showed up this Sunday in the Titans’ win against the Chicago Bears, which is the best news we could get right now.

The Tennessee Titans’ finally recovered after suffering two straight losses and get back in the win column. The Titans defeated the Bears 24-17 on Sunday, and the Titans looked like they were ready to pitch a shutout through three quarters, but the Bears tried to come back with a 17-point fourth quarter.

The Titans’ defense finally showed up for maybe the first time this season or at least one of the few times this season in the Titans’ win against the Bears on Sunday.

For most of the game, though, the Titans defense actually showed up ready to play and didn’t require the Titans offense to score at least 30 points to win the game. I mentioned earlier in the week that if the defense didn’t show up, then the offense would likely have to score at least 30 points to win based on most of the Titans’ games this season.

The past two weeks had me worried that the Titans defense might not be good enough to contend with the best teams in the AFC when the playoffs come around. There’s no guarantee that they’ll be able to compete with the Ravens or Chiefs, but every week they have a good game, the better I feel about that happening.

For the Titans to also show up on third down is very important for the success of the defense. The Titans’ third-down defense has been historically bad this season, but the Titans shut down the Bears on third down on Sunday.

The Bears converted two of their 17 third-down attempts, which brings their conversion rate to 7.5 percent. That’s far better than anything that we’ve seen this season from the Titans’ defense.

We could be seeing the Titans defense come together at the right time, too, as the Titans get ready to battle for the top spot in the AFC South this Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts.
