Tennessee Football loses a commitment from a five-star prospect, and the collapse could be coming for Jeremy Pruitt’s Vols.

Things aren’t great on Rocky Top. There’s a chance Tennessee football can find a way to win one or two of the next three games if Harrison Bailey is running the offense for the rest of the season, although it’s not very likely.

We’ve seen the Vols fall apart on the field as they’ve been unable to find a win after the second week of the season. After two decommits this week, it looks like we could be on the brink of a complete collapse for Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee football program.

Earlier this year, Pruitt was the hottest coach on the virtual recruiting trail as he had the Vols getting verbal commitment after commitment. It looked like this year could be a top-ten or maybe even top-five year for the Vols on the recruiting trail with another winning season this fall.

After seven games and Tennessee only has two wins, it seems that success expected this fall never came into fruition, and recruits are noticing.

Last Thursday, four-star defensive back Damarius McGhee announced on Twitter that he is decommitting from Tennessee.

Tennessee’s second decommitment within five days came on Monday as five-star linebacker Terrence Lewis announced he is also decommitting and opening his recruitment again.

If you had any hope for this recruiting class, the news of these two recruits decommitting is anything but good or hopeful news. If Pruitt’s recruiting class falls apart in similar fashion to the 2020 season, then there’s a good chance Pruitt could be on his way out sooner rather than later.

Now, these two players could re-commit to Tennessee, but this late in the recruiting cycle it’s unlikely they’re coming back because they’ll get a lot of attention from much better football programs.

For a Tennessee fan looking for some consistency, this isn’t something you want to hear, but if Pruitt isn’t the guy to lead Tennessee, then he’s simply not the guy.
