The Tennessee Titans suffered a loss on Sunday, which tightens up the race for the AFC South with the Colts, but the Titans have a clear path to victory.

If you’ve been paying attention to politics over the past month, you might’ve heard of a news anchor discuss one candidate’s path to victory. Since we’re a Tennessee sports website and not a political website, we’re going to look at the Tennessee Titans‘ path to victory for an AFC South championship.

With the Titans’ loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, the Colts inch back closer to a possible AFC South championship.

Both the Titans and the Colts are 8-4, and either team can win the division with four games left in the season. The Titans have a bit easier schedule than the Colts, with the Jaguars, Lions, Packers, and Texans remaining on the schedule.

The Packers are undoubtedly the best team left on the schedule, but that doesn’t mean that the Titans can’t beat them. We’ve seen the Titans beat some really good teams over the past two seasons, and the Titans will have a very good chance at beating the Packers when they play on Sunday Night Football.

The Colts’ remaining schedule consists of the Raiders, Texans, Steelers, and Jaguars. The Titans and Colts should beat both the Texans and Jaguars, although the Colts’ win over the Texans this past Sunday was too close for comfort for Indy. If both teams beat the Jags and Texans, then that leaves both teams’ two other games as possible do or die games.

Looking at the short-term schedule, the Titans could get an early jump on the Colts if Indianapolis can’t beat the Raiders in Las Vegas this Sunday.

So what is the Titans’ path to victory? Of course, the easiest path to victory would be for the Titans to simply win out. The Titans hold the tiebreaker over the Colts, so if the Titans win out, then they’re guaranteed to win the division.

If the Titans lose somewhere along the way before the Colts lose a game, then things will get more complicated. As long as the Titans match the Colts’ record at the end of the season, then they’ll secure the division since they hold the tiebreaker.

The Titans will head to Jacksonville for its game on Sunday against the Jaguars. The Titans and Jags will kickoff at Noon CT as the Titans look to finish the final four weeks of the season as hot as they did last season.
