The Tennessee Titans will face the Detroit Lions in Nashville this Sunday, and the Titans have opened as double-digit favorites over the Lions.

The Tennessee Titans are entering another winnable game this week with the Detroit Lions coming to town. After last week’s dominant 31-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Titans will have the opportunity to do the same thing this week against the Lions.

The Lions aren’t having the best season this year and sit at 5-8 with three games left in the season. Their last three games consist of the Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Minnesota Vikings, which offers three games the Lions can win if things can go their way.

Detroit is last in its division and likely won’t make the playoffs, but will probably need to win out for a chance at the playoffs. The Titans, on the other hand, are battling for position in the playoffs and a chance to win the AFC South.

The two team’s situation is evident in the spread for the game. The Titans open as 10.5-point favorites over the Lions with the over/under at 51.5 points. If last week’s win over the Jaguars is any indication as to what could happen this week, then the Titans could win by a lot more than ten or eleven points.

The Titans have such a big advantage with the opening line because Matthew Stafford is reportedly doubtful for the game. Stafford had to leave last week’s game early with a right thumb injury after injuring it earlier last week in practice.

If Stafford doesn’t play, then I’d consider this game almost a guaranteed win for the Titans. I would be surprised if he did sit out with the possibility that the Lions can still make the playoffs, but if his thumb hasn’t healed much from last Sunday, I don’t think he’ll take the field.

Taking the Lions plus 10.5 might be a good line to take if Stafford does play, but then you’re betting on if Stafford will play more than the final score.
