Tennessee Football is in full swing coaching search season now that Danny White has been hired as the new Athletic Director.

The University of Tennessee has hired Danny White as the university’s new athletic director. The university introduced White on Friday, and he took to the podium in orange and white for the first time to address VolNation and take questions from the press.

After watching his interaction with the media and what he said during his introductory press conference, I have a feeling White is about to be the best thing to happen to Tennessee Athletics since the Vols won the national championship in football on January 1, 1999.

White preached positivity from the fan base and said he will be looking for a coach that has morals and strong character as the Vols’ next head football coach. We’ve heard of “players coaches” but I think White is a “players AD” after hearing him speak about how he runs things as an athletic director.

As someone who has never been an athletic director at a big school, White said he is up for the challenge that UT presents, and he’s ready to get Tennessee back to where they once were in football.

I was excited for White to take over the athletic department before his press conference, but now, I’m even more excited to see what he can do in the years to come and who he hires as Tennessee’s next head coach.

It seems he has very high standards when looking for a new head coach, and the players will be very involved in the process. White said he will talk with the players about what they like and don’t like in a head coach and what they like and don’t like about the program currently.

That will help White gauge who to target in the coaching search and who to hire when it comes down to the nitty-gritty.

I know we’re only hours into White officially joining the University of Tennessee, but I’m excited for what he could do on Rocky Top based on his experience and what he said in his presser on Friday.
