Offensive Line Play

If the Vols are going to be successful in 2017, it’s going to be because of improved offensive line play.

Tennessee’s offensive line woefully underperformed the last four years under offensive line coach Don Mahoney.

Fortunately for Vol fans, Butch Jones decided to make a change this off-season. Mahoney wasn’t brought back as an assistant. Jones instead promoted Walt Wells to offensive line coach.

There is still, however, work to be done. Simply hiring a new coach doesn’t solve all the issues.

But for what it’s worth, new offensive coordinator Larry Scott is happy with where the offensive line is currently.

It’s going to be tough to tell much about the progress of the offensive line in the spring game, but hopefully we’ll be able to see a new, nasty attitude from the Vols’ OL group.
