5. Les Miles

Career Record: 141-55

BCS Champion (2007), SEC Champion (2007, 2011), SEC West Champion (2005, 2007, 2011)

Les Miles obviously has a great looking resume, but his age (63) and lack of recent success puts him at the bottom of this list.

There’s a good chance that Miles became complacent at LSU. A fresh start could be just what he needs. Miles is a passionate guy and there’s little doubt he’d love the pageantry and tradition that Tennessee offers.

But Miles wouldn’t come without question marks. How good of a recruiter is he?

LSU consistently had top five recruiting classes under Miles, but recruiting in Louisiana isn’t the same as recruiting in Tennessee. The amount of in-state talent that “automatically” goes to LSU is staggering.

There’s also the fact that Miles hasn’t won more than nine games in the regular season since 2012.

I still think, however, that Miles is a near elite coach. I’m just not sure if his age will allow him to make a long term difference at Tennessee.
