3. Dan Mullen — Mississippi State

Career Record: 61-42

Dan Mullen has pretty much maxed out at Mississippi State.

Winning at Mississippi State isn’t easy. They’re typically the cellar dweller of the SEC West, but Mullen has taken the Bulldogs to seven straight bowl games.

Mullen, who was the offensive coordinator at Florida under Urban Meyer, is certainly eyeing a bigger job. He’s been linked to big time job openings before (Florida and Michigan) and still remained in Starkville, but that won’t always be the case.

Mississippi State is probably never going to be a national championship contender. But Mullen could coach a national championship contender in Tennessee.

Mullen might not be a popular option among Vol fans, but the guy is one of the better coaches in the nation and I think he’s ready to move on from Mississippi State.
