Vanderbilt @ Tennessee

November 25 — TBA

I know I said the Vols’ matchup against LSU is their most important game of the year, but this one is pretty important too.

Another loss to Vanderbilt would be absolutely crippling for the Vols and the program. For decades, Tennessee’s rivalry against Vandy was incredibly one-sided. Even calling it a rivalry seemed silly. But as of now, it’s a legit rivalry.

And it’s time for Tennessee to get things back to the way they were.

This is a bit of a revenge game for the Vols. A blowout win against the Commodores at home to end the season would be the perfect exclamation point to the 2017 season for Tennessee.

Prediction: Tennessee wins

Record: 9-3

Thoughts:

Given the loss of talent the Vols suffered after the 2016 season, a 9-3 regular season record would be a big success.

But to be honest, the Vols could just as easily upset Georgia or Florida and win 10 games. Or they could drop the opener to Georgia Tech and lose at home to LSU and finish with 7 wins.

Either way, I think we’re going to learn a lot about Tennessee football in 2017.
