Tennessee Vols: Derek Barnett Shows Off Singing Voice At Eagles Rookie Night
By Zach Ragan
Former Tennessee Vols defensive end Derek Barnett “showed off” his singing voice at the Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie talent show.
Derek Barnett, one of the great Tennessee Vols in program history, made sure to give his alma mater some love at the Philadelphia Eagles’ “Rookies Got Talent” night.
Barnett decided to do some singing for the talent show, and he led off with Rocky Top, before breaking out some 21 Savage.
Check out the clip below.
It’s a good thing Barnett is pretty damn good at terrorizing quarterbacks, because he definitely doesn’t have a singing future.
Barnett, by the way, is already a hit in Philly. Fans love his work ethic, which was recently spotlighted in a Philly.com article that told about a recent instance where Barnett stayed on the field for 20 minutes after practice was over, working with left tackle Jason Peters to perfect his pass rushing moves.
It’s that kind of work ethic that vaulted Barnett to the top of Tennessee’s record books. And it looks like that work ethic will help Barnett excel in the NFL.
For the most part, Barnett has received positive reviews during training camp.
However, he’s still a rookie and there are going to be some ups-and-downs. Barnett reportedly struggled a bit recently during live tackling drills.
From CSN Philly:
"Derek Barnett didn’t look great. He went up against Dillon Gordon a few times and Gordon got the best of him"
But that’s to be expected. It’s easy to forget that Barnett is still only 21 (he doesn’t turn 22 until next June). Which means he will likely struggle at times, but it also means the best is yet to come for the former Vol.

Derek Barnett is going to have a solid NFL career. It’s clear he was wise to choose football over singing.
