Running Back Depth

John Kelly is the Vols’ starting running back by a mile.

But there’s no way he can, or should, handle the entire rushing load in 2017.

The Volunteers will need the players behind Kelly to step up and be contributors.

Unfortunately for the Vols, however, they don’t have a lot of experience behind Kelly. Carlin Fils-aime is listed as Kelly’s direct backup, but it’s more likely that true freshmen Ty Chandler and Tim Jordan will see the bulk of the playing time behind Kelly.

Both players are very talented, and have the potential to be playmakers in the SEC.

But until we them in an actual game, we have no idea what the running game will look like outside of John Kelly.
