9. Dave Doeren — Head coach at NC State

A few weeks ago I would’ve scoffed at the idea of Dave Doeren at NC State.

Doeren, who took the job at NC State in 2013, knew he was getting into a long rebuild in Raleigh.

But after a few mediocre seasons, Doeren finally has the Wolfpack competing at a national level.

NC State is currently 6-1, which includes a road win against Florida State and a win at home against Louisville.

It’s also worth noting that Doeren found a lot of success during his two seasons at Northern Illinois.

In Doeren’s two seasons at Northern Illinois, he went 23-4.

I would prefer Doeren over Fleck, mostly because of his experience in the ACC, but if the Vols get this far down the list, it’s going to be another roll of the dice anyway.
