Mike Gundy — Oklahoma State Head Coach

I think Mike Gundy is one of the more underrated coaches in college football.

Gundy has led the Oklahoma State Cowboys to five double digit winning seasons during his time in  Stillwater.

Since 2008, there have been only two seasons where Oklahoma State didn’t finish the season as a ranked team. In 2011, the Cowboys finished the season as the third ranked team in the nation.

And Gundy has achieved all of this with less talent than Dan Mullen at Mississippi State.

Since 2009, Gundy is averaging the 33rd best recruiting class in the nation (compared to Mullen averaging the 26th best).

If Gundy went to Tennessee, he’d easily land top 10 or top 15 classes.

But that’s a huge if.

Gundy is from Oklahoma, and he went to school at Oklahoma State. But that didn’t stop him from flirting with Tennessee in 2012.

It’s a well known fact that Gundy doesn’t exactly get along with the athletic department. And there have been rumblings for years that he might be looking to get out.

Gundy currently makes $3.75 million a year (how he makes less than Butch Jones is beyond me), so I think he’s definitely gettable for the Vols if they want to offer him a significant raise.

I think the Vols would be incredibly wise to go after Gundy.
