3. Marcus Mariota

In 2016, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was having a pretty good year. It ended on a bad note with a fractured leg in Jacksonville in week 16. His season was over, and so were the Titans playoff hopes.

In 2017, his road to recovery was daunting. It hindered his opportunity to build chemistry with his receivers. He had to sacrifice some valuable time in the offseason to fully recover from the injury. As one may guess, recovering from a fractured leg is not that easy.

Mariota obviously felt the lingering affects of that injury throughout the regular season in 2017. He was limited in most games with various complications in his legs. He could not be the normal mobile threat he once was in 2016. His stats suffered greatly because of it, as he threw 13 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions. Mariota looked like a rookie all over again.

That shows you what sacrificing an offseason can do to a player, even one as good as Mariota. Good news now is Mariota seems pretty healthy heading into 2018. Training camp will give us a good feel of where he is heading into the season, and of course that first drive of the preseason will give us a great look at Mariota.

Will Mariota be 100% come week one? We will likely find that out after a few days of training camp. If the answer is yes, we can officially say the real Mariota is back. But, who is the “real Mariota?”
