The Tennessee Titans are almost ready to play their second preseason game of the year so here’s the player to watch this Saturday.

Alright, I know this is going to be crazy, and probably the worst take you’ve ever heard but here me out. The player to watch this Saturday for the Titans is quarterback … Logan Woodside.

Wait, who? The third-string quarterback Woodside yeah him. He had a pretty good performance in his first preseason game of 2019 and led the Titans to victory over the Eagles.

Now he will have an opportunity to do the same on Saturday against the Patriots. Granted he’s playing against mostly third-string players who might see a handful of meaningful snaps in 2019 but none the less he impressed.

He completed 14-of-19 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns last week, and if he keeps it up, he could be the third-string quarterback for the Titans in 2019.

It’s not guaranteed that he makes the roster but if I had to bet I’d say he stays in Nashville in some capacity whether it’s as the third-string quarterback or on the practice squad.

We all know the situation surrounding the quarterback position with the Titans and new reports are now saying Marcus Mariota might not be the starting quarterback in 2019. Is this because of the surge of Woodside? [enter laughing emoji here]

No, not quite due to Woodside’s performance but Ryan Tannehill is threatening to take Mariota’s job which brings interest to the preseason and the future of the position for the Titans.

If neither work out the Titans have also been rumored to be interested in taking a quarterback in next year’s draft, so anything seems to be on the table right now for the Titans.

I didn’t mean to get off track there, but when it comes down to it if Woodside can impress enough and one of the two other quarterbacks go down with an injury, and the other isn’t performing, then Woodside might get a chance to play sometime this season.

These next few weeks could make or break Woodside’s season. We’ve seen some of these young, unknown quarterbacks get a chance and prove their worth and show out.

He looked good in his first performance so if he keeps that up he will stay in the back of the minds of Titans coaches and fans. I know Titans fans can’t not cheer for Mariota and his success, but when it comes down to it, most fans want the best player out there.

I’m not saying Woodside is better than either Mariota or Tannehill, but I’m not ruling out the chance that he could eventually be.

Next. Marcus Mariota’s over/under predictions. dark

He might end up not being anything, but I’m just saying keep your eye out for him. You never know when you might need him with two injury-prone quarterbacks in front of him.
